Faith Communities Working Side by Side for a Greener, Healthier, More Resilient Canada

Faith communities working side by side for a greener, healthier Canada

We help Canada’s diverse faith communities contribute to greener, healthier neighbourhoods.

Faith & the Common Good (FCG) is a national, interfaith, registered charitable network dedicated to seeking common ground for the common good. Through dialogue, research, network building, education, and advocacy, we seek to bring the diversity of Canadian spiritual perspectives into a voice of common concern for social, economic and ecological well-being for all.

We work to motivate congregations and promote multi-faith community engagement.

Greening Sacred Spaces (GSS) is our most popular program. A practical program, GSS assists faith communities with both the educational and spiritual dimensions of greening as well as the “how to” side of audits, retrofits and generally reducing a faith community’s footprint. We have developed a whole resource kit – with workshops, case studies, posters, guides, environmental services, awards, certificates and more– to help faith groups become community leaders in working towards a more sustainable future for all.

How We Work: Organizationally, we have a charitable Board structure, including Board members representing a variety of sectors and faith traditions. Our regional chapters have local interfaith advisory committees, made up of volunteers from different faith backgrounds and denominations. Our regional animators often work in partnership with a local environmental non-profit organization.
