Congratulations to St John’s-by-the-Lake in Grand Bend! They received Medium Green Certification through our certification program. What’s their motivation for greening?
They said “As all of us are called to be stewards of creation we want to do everything that we can to conserve energy and work to ensure that we make our ‘space’ environmentally sustainable.”
Some of the actions they have taken to date include energy efficient lighting, a procurement policy for recycled and/or FSC certified paper, and a backyard composting system. They also divert rain water from the roof into their gardens (see photo above – dedication of gardens in 2010).
The certification program helps congregations to measure and achieve greening in categories such as community, energy, and spirituality and worship.
